Oral Cancer

Oral Cancer Foundation

The Oral Cancer Foundation is a national public service, non-profit entity designed to reduce suffering and save lives through prevention, education, research, advocacy, and patient support activities. Oral cancer is the largest group of those cancers which fall into the head and neck cancer category. Common names for it include such things as mouth cancer, tongue cancer, tonsil cancer, and throat cancer. Approximately 45,750 people in the US will be newly diagnosed with oral cancer in 2015. This includes those cancers that occur in the mouth itself, in the very back of the mouth known as the oropharynx, and on the exterior lip of the mouth. For more than a decade there has been an increase in the rate of occurrence of oral and oropharyngeal cancers.

Children's Dental Health Project (CDHP)

The Children's Dental Health Project will improve oral health for children and families by identifying and advancing solutions that are innovative and cost-effective. We will promote strategies that are grounded in the best available research, and where the evidence is lacking CDHP will lead efforts to learn more and explore new approaches.

American Academy of Periodontology

The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) is an 8,400-member professional organization for periodontists specialists in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases affecting the gums and supporting structures of the teeth, and in the placement of dental implants. Periodontists are also dentistry's experts in the treatment of oral inflammation and receive three additional years of specialized training following dental school. Periodontics is one of the nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.

The Center for Health and Health Care in Schools (CHHCS) is a nonpartisan policy, resource and technical assistance center with a 25-year history of developing school-connected strategies for better health and education outcomes for children. CHHCS partners with foundations, government health and education agencies, school districts, and providers across the country to support their school-connected initiatives.
